The normalization of cryptocurrency announcements saw another leap forward this week, as the most successful football clubs in Europe announced a partnership with Turkey’s Bitcoin Trading Platform (BTC).
Rangers Football Club, the wealthiest team in Europe with 115 competitions to win its name, will partner with Turkish cryptocurrency exchange Bitci Technology. The partnership will run until the end of the 2022-2023 season, and will see the Bitci brand appear on the club’s bar. The club will also release its fan code as part of the deal.

Founded in 1872, Rangers is one of the oldest and most successful football teams in Europe. Although the club plays in the lesser known Scottish League, the Rangers regularly attract over 50,000 fans to their stadium every week. Supporter Rangers clubs have appeared in Sudan, Australia, Spain, the United States, and abroad.
Rangers Marketing Director James Bisgrove celebrated the partnership, noting the positive impact it has on commercial revenue, saying, “It will have an immediate and positive impact on the continued growth of commercial revenue.”
Bitci Technology founder Çagdaş Çağlar predicted that the symbiotic relationship between the cryptocurrency and the sports industry will benefit both parties in the long run:
“We believe blockchain technologies will become an important part of the sports industry in the near future. Sports clubs that are able to see the importance of this trend today will have a huge advantage in the future.”
