The highly anticipated fight between 43-year-old Tom Brady and 25-year-old Patrick Mahoms didn’t quite materialize in the first half of the Super Bowl LV.
That’s because the sly defense by Tampa Bay’s Defensive Coordinator Todd Balls kept Mahomes and Chaves’ powerful attack stacked up while Brady was bouncing off the bosses.
Brady, playing in his seventh Super Bowl episode he scored, entered with old friend Rob Gronkowski two touchdowns. This was the most Super Bowl touchdown by a combo group from a midfielder, and his 14 touchdowns moved to Grunk surpassing Jerry Rice on the receiving touchdown list. The feat was made even more impressive by the fact that Gronkowski ran all over the last season, attending Super Bowl as spectators.

Tampa Bay nearly landed a third time in the first half, with Ronald Jones halting a fourth-placed drop just a short distance from the goal line.
Meanwhile, Kansas City wasn’t quite like Kansas City, according to CBS anchor Jim Nantz. Mahomes owned most of the Presidents’ runway, scrambling under a ferocious rush from the Tampa Bay defense line. That and some bad penalties, including only one before the run that led to a fatal landing, kept the Chiefs down.
Kansas City’s frustrations were confirmed in the third game with just over a minute remaining in the game. Mahomes brought the Chiefs near Tampa Bay 20, but was forced to stampede again to his 35th country under the high pressure exerted by Bucs.
Shortly before the first half, she placed a poor Tampa Bay penalty kick at the 1-yard streak, and Brady hit Antonio Brown with a short touch pass to drive a dagger to Chiefs.
The half ended with Tampa Bay taking a 21-6 lead, but the match didn’t feel that close to those of Kansas City’s roots. However, head coach Andy Reid, who grew up in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles, is known to be a striking genius and is likely to come up with some major tweaks. This is, after all, a team that once beat a 24-point deficit in a playoff match against Houston Texas.
